It doesn't matter where you were born.
It doesn't matter what your last name is.
It doesn't matter what kind of childhood you had.
What is important is:
Throw your excuses in the trash, get involved, and succeed.

In memory of Sergeant Tomer Barak 2003-2023

Enlisting is your opportunity.

Here comes the opportunity you've been waiting for.
The opportunity to throw away all excuses.
An opportunity to turn a new page
And show everyone that you succeeded despite everything.

The late Tomer Barak
The association was established to commemorate Tomer Barak, who was a company commander in the 13th Battalion of the Golani Brigade at the age of twenty when he fell. Tomer fell in battle at the Pega outpost near Nahal Oz on October 7, 2023.
Tomer enlisted in the Golani with one goal in mind - to be the best soldier!
This goal led him to invest heavily in military training and even dedicate all his free time to fitness and running training. Even during his vacations from the army, Tomer found the time to participate in running competitions and frequented the gyms, dragging many friends with him. Along with developing his physical fitness, Tomer was a Zionist in every sense of the word. Tomer was a trainee at the "Shachar" preparatory school in Nitzan before his enlistment there, where he mainly stood out for his love of hiking and traveling around the country.
Tomer's motto was "No excuses!" And just as he demanded that his subordinates and friends persevere in training, he also demanded it of himself, and was a symbol and example of uncompromising fighting until the day he died.
Tomer was full of humor and cynicism, intelligent and curious, a loving and beloved child who, in his death, commanded us, his friends and family, to continue his path, the path of giving and love.
Tomer's Lightning Association
The association's ultimate goal is to encourage the successful integration of at-risk youth into the IDF, to strengthen national resilience, and to develop quality manpower and young leadership in Israeli society.
The vision is to continue the path of Tomer Barak, while instilling the values he believed in to youth from difficult backgrounds who face great challenges in their personal lives and in the environment in which they grow up. The program combines physical, emotional, social and ethical components in the holistic preparation of its young participants for military service.
The program combines physical, emotional, social, and ethical components in the holistic preparation of its young participants for military service. It includes:
Combat fitness training and sports activities for physical preparation.
Several weeks of pre-military escort and service at the Tomer Pre-Military Pre-Military Preparatory School in the south to create a “soft landing for the trainees”
Workshops and enrichment on values, discipline, leadership, and life skills.
Exposure to the military environment and various units before enlistment.
Volunteering and community integration activities to stimulate civic engagement.
Personal and group support from a professional team including coaches and veterans.
The program is based on principles from the MFC Youth Program model, a military training program
of the Solbridge Institute and studies on the positive effects of physical activity and sports on youth development.
